Evelyn Underhill, Mysticism - 8

p. 53: Mysticism (getting in sync with God's will; surrender to ultimate Reality; in love with the Absolute) v. Magic (self-seeking transcendentalism; deliberate exaltation of the will; individualistic, acquisitive) / Jesus was constantly redirecting His disciples from magic to mysticism.

I choose mysticism with my will. I pray that my heart will follow. It is here that I can hope for true healing. It is here that I can place honest value on love given and received, while acknowledging the painful and the wrong aspects of behaviors.
